The Happiest Day of My Life
Sunday July
21, 2013 was the most inspirational day of my existence. It all started with a
wonderful site call POF.com. My life before July 21, 2013 was lacking
motivation, I just went with the flow and was stuck in a rut. So I decided to try and find a drive for
my future. My dad and sister both met their spouses on POF, so I thought why
not try.
At first guys messaged me all the
time, but I wouldn’t be interested in eight out of ten of them because I was
looking for specific traits. A few days after I had talked to several different
guys, but sooner or later I would always have to bring up the topic of my
morals. As soon as I would talk about being Christian, they stopped contacting
me.
Even though most men weren’t
compatible with me, my attitude was always that I am young and I have plenty of
time to find the right person. So I never quit trying to find my prince
charming.
Only a few days after I started POF,
Andrew contacted me. The conversations began like usual, “how’s it going?”
“Fine, and you?”. Then after an hour of delayed back and forth, I finally mentioned
what I am about and what I was searching for in a man. To my surprise, he
wanted the same things. He was a Christian, he even lived in his ministry with
a bunch of other college aged men, and he was a virgin too.
I was thrilled; I had finally met a
person just like me. For four straight days we messaged each other constantly,
only stopping to sleep. We had exchanged each other’s back stories and our past
relationships, and after that the only thing left to do was meet in person. He
suggested that we could take a stroll in the park to talk. The next day we made
plans to met at a park near his mother’s house.
It was a
hot and humid summer day. When I stepped outside my house to get into my car,
my glass even fogged up it was so steamy. I was so nervous that I
didn’t eat all day, and my heart was fluttering.
I arrived
at his mother’s house with my heart beating like a humming bird, and I was sweating
profusely because my car's air conditioning broke. He stepped out wearing an orange tee
shirt, jeans, and a red DC hat. He looked different from his pictures I had
seen of him online. He appeared taller and more muscular in person. When he got into the car
the first thing I noticed were his ocean blue eyes and his big smile with the cutest dimples. It was hard to see his hair with his hat, but I could tell it was
brown, straight, and short.
We drove to
a park close by and started walking and talking. We spent three hours talking
about our relationships with god and our goals for life. After a while the park flooded with children,
so we decided to leave for Culver’s. Right before we got into the car, Andrew
stopped and looked at me. My heart melted, he just smiled really big and
described how he was having a wonderful time. Then I began to tear up because I
had never felt such a connection with another person before, from that moment
on I knew I had met my best friend for life.
We traveled
to Culver’s, purchased our treats and found a seat. Then for another three hours we
looked into each other’s eyes talking and giggling with excitement. Suddenly,
he struggled to speak. I, after another hour, reassured him enough to tell me
why he had trouble talking. He said cautiously,” I love you.” Immediately I
said it back, then explained I thought that he was hiding something really bad
or really good. He chuckled and asked, “What would be really good?” I replied
that some Christians at the point we were at would propose. He didn’t get on one
knee, but he still right there and then asked for my hand in marriage. Tears of
joy ran down my smiling face as I answered yes.
Andrew and
I a couple weeks later exchanged rings, and we haven’t been happier. Everyday
our connection grows; I have truly found my better half. I have dated before,
but I always settled for men who didn't share my morals of
being a good Christian. Andrew is also a very knowledgeable Christian who helps
me with my walk with Christ. He has truly made my life better; I now have
something to look forward to when I’m in school struggling through my
classes. Andrew is truly my inspiration and I can’t wait to spend the rest of
my life with him.
